Working With Brix Liquids

We can supply liquids to cover the entire Brix range from 0 – 85 % sucrose solution @ 20°C ( Brix). Our Brix Liquids are ideal for calibrating your Brix refractometers. Unlike water based sucrose solutions, our liquids are extremely stable, which means that one Brix liquid can be used as a calibration fluid for years.

It is advisable to select a Cargille oil (standard) close to the Brix value of your samples or select a liquid higher and lower to surround your Brix working area. Refractometer manufacturers advise zeroing out with distilled water as zero Brix.

Brix Value – Temperature Changes

When working with Standard Series Refractive Index Liquids to calibrate hand held refractometers and refractometers without temperature controls, it is important to know the temperature because liquids change refractive index with temperature.
